Area of origin : Majei (Kije)
Etymology:
Derived from Kiswahili word "Urongo" which means "lie"/"fib". The word though, seems to have been introduced after the arrival of a batch of Tanzanians in Majengo in the early 50s. Tanzanians, pronounce "r" sound as an "l" ... their urongo, becomes "ulongo".
Kalongo takes this route to describe a make-believe world where kids play house and portray roles like mother, father, children etc.
